Fuzz Pedal Workshop - January 25-26

$285.00

From 12:00-4:00 pm

Over the course of this two-day weekend workshop we’ll hand-wire a fuzz.

Come join us and build yourself a blissed-out velcro-y buzzsaw fuzzbox for all of your far-out psych pop and weirdo rock needs. Hell, use it in anything you want, point is it’s loud and woolly and noisy just this side of tame. This surprisingly simple circuit can deliver a punch and does what you want when you step on a fuzz. It blasts you in the face with fuzzy goodness.

In this workshop, everybody starts with a bag of discrete components and vintage-style eyelet/fiberboard, and everybody leaves having built a great sounding effect pedal. This is old-school, point-to-point wiring: nothing digital or preprinted. This workshop will be led by Tanisha Boekstaaf, guitar tech, master solderer, electronics wizard, and all around awesome human. On hand will be the owner, Richard Phillis, to provide backup and assist with individual issues, and Frankie, the shop dog, to beg for belly rubs.

There will be a mix of discussion, demos, and practice, but to be clear, this is a BUILDING course where students learn the fundamentals of circuit construction, proper soldering skills, reading layouts. We want you to maximize the time here to get hands on experience and build the confidence to tackle more challenging projects down the road. Learn how to do this the right way, so your custom pedal lasts forever (and if anything goes wrong, you can fix it). One disclaimer, this pedal won’t help you play like Jimi Hendrix, but of course nothing will.

No experience wiring or soldering necessary. Everything you need will be on hand (including handouts AND snacks), so just bring yourself and a notebook.
